Description:
This is a literary group which differs from a “reading group” in that we choose literary works which follow, or are connected with, a particular theme or genre. This would include fiction, non-fiction, poetry, plays, and any other forms of literature relevant to our theme of the moment. We migh look at literature from the 17th-21st century (or even earlier in some cases), wherever applicable and wherever we can make a connection, to see how these themes have been treated throughout the years.

The Literature Group has just celebrated its 5th anniversary! We have had a very enjoyable five years looking at novels, plays and poetry with themes such as The Country House in Literature, Crime, Irish Literature, The Short Story genre, and Historical novels.
We are currently studying our 6th major theme in literature: the plays of William Shakespeare and novels by modern-day authors that have been inspired or based on them. We are anticipating quite a challenge!

If any of this tickles your fancy, why don’t you come along and join us?
