Doncaster

WELCOME

WELCOME TO DONCASTER u3a (Registered Charity Number 1074577)

* Are you retired from full time work?

* Do you want to meet other people with the same interests?

* Do you want to follow up on one of your interests or are you looking for a new interest of hobby?

* Are you lonely and in need of friendship?

.
If you can answer ‘yes’ to any of the above, then join us on a voyage of enjoyment and discovery. All you need is spare time to learn and share social, cultural and intellectual experiences with like-minded people.

Our main activities centre on our Interest Groups which offer a diverse range of activities. Some information about them can be found on the GROUPS page. Each group is run by its own members drawing upon their knowledge, experience, skills and enthusiasm. The number of interest groups that a member may attend is generally only limited by the time that that member has available. Whatever your interest, we hope you will find it here. The only requirement is that you must be a fully paid-up member of the u3a to be able to take part in our group meetings or activities. For more information about membership, including fees, please see the MEMBERSHIP page. We look forward to hearing from you.

Doncaster u3a (Du3a) was first formed in 1994 and has around 300 members. New members are always welcome. About 80 members meet at monthly Members Meetings to socialise and listen to a topic of general interest given by a visiting speaker. A programme for Members Meetings can be seen when you click on the EVENTS tab above.

The u3a is an educational co-operative where all involved take part in the process of promoting lifelong learning through sharing with other members. The initials u3a stand for ‘University of the Third Age’. The first age is the period when one is in full time education. The second age relates to those with 'caring' or 'full time employment' responsibilities. The third age focuses on people who are no longer in full-time employment or raising a family. There is no minimum age. There are over 1,000 u3as and over 425,000 members within the UK. To find out more about the history and ethos of the u3a, the Third Age Trust website can be accessed by clicking on the u3a link on the top menu bar. The u3a national body, the Third Age Trust, provides educational and administrative support to all the u3as in the UK.
