Poetry Reading
We meet to read and discuss poetry, with a programme of themes to work to. We are flexible about how to interpret the themes, but turn up with some suitable poems and then take turns to read them aloud. Our reactions range widely from laughter to tears, and discussions follow. Sometimes we choose a particular poet to research and discuss, and occasionally someone reads one of their own poems. We all enjoy our sessions, and discover new poets we hadn't read before. We use the library, our own books, and the internet to source our material. We don't analyse rhyming schemes in depth as this can detract from the pleasure we find in the material.
