This is a very friendly informal group meeting in a welcoming local café and has now been formed for a year. Books are suggested by members and the group as a whole choose those we are going to read next. We try to choose books which can be reserved in the library, are relatively cheap to buy second hand or downloaded to a Kindle.
In the past these have ranged from non-fiction, thrillers, a classic and a detective novel along with novels with an interesting theme. We have yet to tackle historical fiction or fantasy novels as well as autobiographies and some shorter classic books.
We take it in turns to offer our thoughts on the book and discussions can be lively at times but always takes place with respect for different viewpoints. Some of us visited the exhibition "Beasts of London" at the Museum of London to tie in with our non-fiction book Darwin Comes to Town by Menno Schilthuizen so we do take our noses out of a book occasionally and will potentially undertake more outings in the future!
