Garden Club

THE EVER POPULAR VISITS TO EACH OTHER'S GARDENS. First five are now arranged and details are in the Events Calendar (and below). Everyone looks forward to these and places have to be allocated (to Garden Club members only of course) on a first come first served basis. So if you're a member, make sure to phone the hostess in good time to secure your chance to look around, chat, and enjoy the outcomes of everyone's enthusiasm and skill. At least one more visit is promised and will appear in the Calendar in due course.

Hilary hosts the Garden Club and the regular meetings are held at her house on the last Wednesday of the month. She says "We are a fairly large and very informal group and weather permitting our meetings are held in the garden. We talk all things gardening; we exchange seeds, cuttings, advice and encouragement and we've recently introduced a 'monthly topic' where members research a specific plant genus or species and we share our new found knowledge. We have also introduced a 'Plant of the month' spot where someone can extol the virtues of something which is growing particularly well in their garden at the moment".

Gardening being seasonal we only meet for 9 months of the year but during the summer months members are encouraged to open their gardens for additional garden club afternoons, although this is in no way obligatory. We usually join with the Garden Studies group to have at least one outing and are often fortunate to be able to join with larger groups on coach trips to gardens farther afield.

Visits already arranged are in the Events Calendar. There will usually be a link to the website of any external visits, so that you can find more information about the place in advance.
