Genealogy Group
Genealogy is not only about researching our ancestors and finding the birthname of, for instance,a great grandmother. Often we discover unusual and secret family facts that have been hidden away for many years. The most surprising fact for newcomers to family history is the occurrence of bigamy which is very often found in ordinary families in the late 19th century in particular.
We are a varied and vibrant group helping each other to find out more about subjects as far apart as adoption and emigration within our family trees. Genealogy does wonders for one's knowledge of geography.
We have very informal meetings at the Larruperz Centre at 10am every 3rd Friday of the month, and share information on many subjects including websites and ways of recording our family trees, the latter being a huge challenge.
We always welcome new members of any ability but please contact first using email.
