Book Group 2
Book Group 2 meets on the 4th Thursday of the month at 10 am. We take it in turns to host the meeting in our own houses, although there is no obligation to do so. We generally start with a cup of tea or coffee and then take it in turn to share our thoughts on the book we have read. This then tends to extend into a general discussion about the book and issues that it might have raised for us.
We read an eclectic range of books chosen from the extensive Herefordshire library Readers’ Group Book Sets. Our list for the coming year consists of a range of genre including classic, historical, and contemporary fiction. When deciding on our reading list for the coming year we all make suggestions and then agree the final list as a group, which is then sent to the library. There is currently an annual fee of £17.00 for this service which we split between us. I take responsibility for collecting the books and bringing them to the meeting.
The aim of the group is to chat with like-minded people and to extend our repertoire of genre and authors, and we have all had the opportunity to read books that we might not have previously considered.
