Italian Language & Culture
Italian Language and Culture Group
Group contact: Jacqueline Bouchard
The Italian group continues to master new grammar, learn about different regions and customs, and occasionally go to Italian film.
We particularly enjoyed learning about the Via Francigena, a pilgrimage route originally from Canterbury to Rome. The experience was heightened by a series of three television programmes which followed the journey of a group of well-known people from diverse backgrounds and belief systems. Their pilgrimage began in Italy at the Northern Alpine frontier and continued in stages to Rome and the Vatican where they were unexpectantly honoured with an audience with Pope Francis.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept new non-Italian speakers just now. We have taken in beginners three times and need to consolidate what we have learned. We can converse at a basic level and time is needed to develop confidence.
