Nature Appreciation

Group contact: Hugh Munro.

Pre-Covid restrictions: - the Nature Appreciation Group planned to meet on the 2nd Monday and 4th Friday of each month and possibly less during the winter months. The plan was to walk (slowly and carefully) over a maximum of 5 Km with a duration of approximately 2.5 hours and to cover many different habitats including, woodlands, moorlands heathlands, coastal areas and suburban areas.
Distance and duration will depend mainly on the abundance or scarcity of "nature" in any locality. The purpose is leisurely observation, identification, learning and appreciation of the wild animals, birds, wild flowers, trees/shrubs, insects, fungi etc. that we see.

During Covid restrictions: - in most instances, walks have been very local, usually with a partner or friend and sometimes alone. Photos were taken, brief reports made on location and sightings, then circulated to all group members by email. Many hundreds of photos and almost 300 'reports' have been shared before December 2020.
We continue to meet online via 'Zoom' on a monthly basis.
