Group contact: Pat Rooke
Deputy: Maggie Crane
The group meets at Glencorse Golfclub on the second Tuesday of the month at 2pm. Members research and discuss topics of mutual interest which in 2019 included the chemistry of wildfires, climate change, space exploration, the use of water in paper making and the problems of reproducibility in research. In the spring we visited the Robots exhibition at the National Museum of Scotland.
We also discussed science programmes we have seen or heard, public lectures attended by members and scientific developments reported in the media. As individuals or in groups we attended events organised as part of the Midlothian and Edinburgh Science Festivals.
We are a small group, discussions are lively, but no qualifications needed, just an interest.
