PLEASE NOTE: due to central support imposing draconian limits on the number of photos we can hold on our site in total and on individual pages, we have had to remove all photos older than 1 year and ensure that any single page does not have more than 25 photos. This particularly affects the Photography group.

Please continue to provide photos for review as usual. They will be held and stored for future use but only a selection can be shown on the website.

Some external links to videos and pdfs are retained.

If you wish to retrieve any photos not available on this site, please contact Alan Aldridge at Webmaster email link. Thank you.

FUTURE MEETINGS 2020 - CANCELLED

In line with advice we will cancel further meetings until the health situation is resolved.

In the meantime, we plan to advise of some photographic topics and projects that can be undertaken individually at home or as an individual visiting an open/unpopulated space. Please forward any ideas to Sue Lewsey at Photography Group

The plan is to issue a new topic on the date of our cancelled photography meetings.

The 2 PHOTOGRAPHY TOPICS FOR JUNE are....

HOLIDAY MEMORABILIA
As we can’t go on holiday, lets bring our holidays back to us.

We all have treasured items (or junk!) from our travels. The photos to include one or more of these treasures typically:

  • A single treasure.
  • Several treasures from the same holiday/place.
  • Several treasures from different places but with a common theme (all those beer jugs you have collected).

However, these are only ideas - its up to you to interpret the challenge.

Please send photos to Alan for inclusion on the website - email address on printed bulletins or contact at Webmaster to get address. If possible include a short explanation of each photo as we can add this into the caption on the website. This will give some context/relevance to the photo.

You will be able to access the posted photos via QUICK LINKS on our web site.

YELLOW
Any object/theme but with yellow in it - bananas, flowers, clothes, rocks, paving, cars, signs, etc.

Could also interpret, such as scared/timid, a place e.g. Yellowstone.

USING EXISTING PHOTOS FOR THE MONTHLY CHALLENGES
There have been queries about if members can use older, existing photos in response to the monthly challenges.

The main aim is give some creative activity and output during the lock-down period when we can't meet, so we would like to strongly focus on new photos.

However, if a member has a photo that is burning through their camera desperate to escape then we can accept ONE old photo per member. i.e. it has to be a very special photo that will be of wider interest to members.

Please don't use this as a stop-gap if you are unable to create new photos at the moment. Thank you.

This 'non-competitive competition' was held on 9 December with everyone anonymously supplying a printed picture of their best photo taken in 2019.

There were 20 entries showing again an across the board improvement in the photos taken by members and include photos taken on high end cameras, mobile phones and everything in-between. Every member voted for their 3 best photos [excluding their own of course].
