Group News:
The ‘Macs and Wellies’ Garden Group for the less hardy amongst us.
The aims of the group are to meet in each other’s gardens or allotments, at nurseries or garden centres or perhaps at RHS Hyde Hall for those that are RHS members in order to discuss plants, pruning, cuttings, seed sowing etc.
- Possibly chat about personal plans for our own gardens over the next week, month, year or longer term.
- Perhaps the opportunity to initiate a seed or plant exchange.
- Or any other horticultural activity that’s of interest.
Most activities could be carried out with thick coats and gloves, even in the coldest weather.
The group does not yet have defined meeting times but can meet in groups of 6 OUTSIDE [hence Macs and Wellies].
However, we are pleased to say that we had our first outside get-together last Friday at Rina Munro's with just five of us in attendance. It was a welcome break for all of us even though it was very cold, I think we'd have benefitted from thermals in addition to the macs and wellies.
I'll be sending an email round the group shortly to see who wants to host the next meeting and when. I currently advertise it through the group on a first-come-first-served basis with 'virtual tickets' being allocated, and a reserve list being made in case of drop-outs.
We currently have 18 members.
Best wishes. Bob.
