Local History Visits
The Wirksworth u3a Local History Group walks take place on the third Thursday of the month.
An initial planning meeting was followed by our first History Walk around Ashbourne on Thursday 20th July 2023.
The Crich walk on Thursday 17th August led us to discover that there was much more to the village than expected.
The Local History Walk on Thursday 21st September saw Mike Lewis lead us along the Cromford Canal to see the Leawood Pumping Station and Aquaduct Cottage
Thursday 19th October saw a visit to explore hidden parts of Matlock Bath followed by an exploration of Bonsall on Thursday 16th November.
Our first meeting of 2024 took us to The Derbyshire Records Office for a talk on getting the most out of the resources held at the Records Office. A successful visit to The King Richard III Exhibition in Leicester followed in February.
Details relating to any of our walks will be sent to group members a few days before our visit.
