Local Nature Studies
Initially on the 4th Weds of the month – a.m.
Are the current social restrictions lifting your eyes to the openness of our natural surroundings? The various limestone and gritstone habitats around Wirksworth are extraordinarily rich with plants, animals and fungi, waiting to be explored.
A small group of us are starting to meet monthly to walk out, find things out and increase our understanding: identification, yes, but also ‘how it all works’.
We’ll have a theme and location suitable for each month round the year, with group members encouraged to plan and lead. Whatever we plan to see, there are bound to be surprises!
Walking up to 3 miles might be involved initially, taking our time. Currently, if there are > 6 of us coming, we can split the group.
Sniff things out, share what you know, take photos, look things up, astonish the grandchildren with your knowledge!
