WIRKSWORTH U3A WALKING GROUP

• Walking fortnightly, every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. Usual start time 10.00 am.
• A volunteer group member will plan a walk and lead the walk (help and suggestions given)
• Walks are usually between 5 and 10 miles usually with a visit to a café or pub somewhere en route
• Walks are either from Wirksworth, or further afield with car sharing or public transport.
• Friendly well behaved dogs welcome
• Information about the next walk will be emailed to all group members before the next walk

New members are always welcome. Just email your full name, phone number, email and emergency contact details to Kay.
We have recently set up a WhatsApp group to help notify last minute changes, share photos etc. If you'd like to join this, let Kay know.

WALK - TALK – LAUGH

GROUP ORGANISER : Kay.

Health and Safety

1) I need to keep a list of your emergency contacts. If anything changes, please let me know. If I am not on a particular walk I will email emergency numbers to the leader on that walk. Please let me know if you do NOT want your numbers emailed. If this is the case, please make sure you have your name and contact details in an obvious place (eg your purse/wallet) on paper - not just stored in your phone.

2) It would be wise to let someone in the group know if you have a medical issue which might affect your walking. This would be entirely at your discretion and be confidential.

3) We are obliged by u3a to carry a first aid kit on our walks.

4) If you are leading a walk, please be aware of any particular hazards and alert the participants.

5) If you carry a mobile phone, I recommend that you download the What3words app. It's a free app and will pinpoint your location to within 10 metres.

6) I have an Incident Report Form supplied by the u3a to be filled in in the event of an accident.

If you have kindly offered to lead a walk, this does not imply you have any particular responsibility for the people who turn up. In the event of an incident or accident, all the people on the walk would offer support and help to the best of our abilities and work as a team.
