Please note, due to the Covid-19 virus, our group is currently ‘paused’ but we’ll be back as soon as possible!.
Canasta is a card game of the rummy family of games. Although many variations exist it is most commonly played by four in two partnerships with two standard decks of cards. The rules we will follow are those provided with the cards. The cards are special in that they have points values printed on them. Players attempt to make melds of seven cards of the same rank and "go out" by playing all cards in their hand. The winning score, normally accrued over a number of rounds, is 5000 points. Canasta is an easy game to learn but it takes time to master.
New members (beginners and experienced players) are very welcome and there will be members of the group available to teach the game.
Venue: The Plough, 100 St John's Rd, Whitstable CT5 2RN (Parking in pub car park).
Day/date/time of sessions: Every Monday except bank holidays starting at 1.45pm and finishing at 4.00pm with a mid-session break for refreshments and socialising.
