Temporary new Venue
Ukulele group now meet outdoors in the Bishopstone (Fairytale) Glen in Beltinge - contact Dave for directions.
Here's a great chance to busk along with a selection of songs on your Ukulele; If you don't have a ukulele, don't panic, we can lend you one and show you how to play it! [They are extremely simple instruments to learn]. We're even keen to meet you if you'd just like to come along and sing - after all the rest of us will provide a beautiful accompaniment.
We meet at St Andrew's Church hall each week (so there is a donation required towards hire of the hall , currently £2.50) but, beyond that , we can support you with our friendly group towards a development of your musical skills. We play songs from the last six decades (have a look at our songbook - it's available via the ukulele case above) with a ever-changing list of both easy and challenging pieces . When we do a 'hard' one, there's group guidance to the best approach - and a much slower tempo!). If there's a particular favourite that you'd like to introduce, we have guest songs and will try and translate them into the easiest keys to play.
It's not all just musical merry making though, we stop midway to get our breath back, drink tea and coffee and socialise for a bit.
When you are smitten with ukulele playing and you’d like advice about what sort of ukulele to buy, please contact me.. advice on the best purchase is available as part of the group [Ukulele’s start at around £15!]
PLEASE NOTE - This is a group just for members of the Saxonshore U3a - we can allow a trial 'go' but membership of the group is necessary if you'd like to continue!
