Art History - Impressionism to Modernism
Monthly on Wednesdays from 1 - 3.30 pm
Leader: Pramila Muthiah
Tel: 07758 355 357
We shall visit Galleries and view works of art, from the Postmodern period and the Modern period. Visits to Galleries will be to the Tate Britain, Courtauld Institute, Tate Modern and the British Museum. We shall view works of art with a difference, signalling a shift from a single narrative which starts from Athenian classics, and view works of art from other cultures as well.
We shall look at photographs and books and compare the works of artists such as Picasso, Matisse and Cezanne. The discussions will also include women artists and gender differences.
The venue will be mainly in Galleries, and sometimes we could meet up at a local pub.
