Creative Writing 1
Leader/Contact: Carole Chamberlain
Meets monthly on Mondays in members’ homes. It aims to provide mutual comment on members’ work to help improve it and enjoy sharing. Members need pens and paper but no particular expertise.
Each person reads a piece on a subject agreed by the group. Comment and discussion follow. A piece of ‘instant writing’ on an agreed subject follows in a set time, usually 20 minutes. Each piece is commented on and it is amazing how different each person’s writing on the same subject is. We are also working our way through a writers’ course.
Creative Writing 2: Writing for Fun
Leader/Contact : Richard Putman
Meets monthly on Tuesdays 2 to 4 pm at the leader’s house.
New members who like to “play” with words, thoughts and ideas are welcome; a wonderful way to express inner ideas, thoughts and dreams.
The group aims to encourage and inspire members to write creatively and share their pieces of writing, which might be poetry, fiction, factual or opinion. You may even want to embark on stories about your life and memories of how life used to be.
The group decides on a different theme for each meeting, discusses the difficulties or insights gained in the writing and invites positive comments on the effectiveness of the piece and the thoughts it provoked -it is amazing how many different perspectives and subjects come from one title.
