U3A study day: discovering children's literature

3 February 2020 cost £24.00 10.30am - 3.45pm

The history of children's literature in the British Library Knowledge Centre theatre. Learn about children's books from the 18th and 19th centuries, such as 'Alice's Adventures Under Ground. (The original manuscript version of 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland') and how they have been collected and cared for by the British Library. Tea, Coffee and biscuits on arrival, lunch not included in the price.

National Gallery: Close Encounters of the Animal Kind

Animals in paintings. Hear about the rich history of animal symbolism in western art from the Renaissance to the present day. Explore how artists have responded to humanity's complex and changing relationship with the natural world.
