River Lea Project
Leader/contact: John Mardle
The leader has been involved in major water projects across the globe such as hydro electric schemes, dams, power stations, desalination plants. This is an interest group that would explore many aspects of this rare chalk stream with ancient wet woodland including:
How the river functions and the surrounding areas that affect the flow of water
Map the biodiversity and find out how it is affected or impacted by the river
Understand the archaeology and settlements
Map the geology -gravel, chalk, silt, clay etc
How do the Environment Agency and other partners influence the development and safeguarding of the river? Planning impact.
Walk the areas of the river and produce maps and images via single point photography (training will be given).
