During the Covid-19 pandemic, there were two Zoom sessions per week on Mondays and Fridays.
Since September, the Monday session has returned to a new venue: St Michael's Hall near London Field, Lansdowne Drive, E8 3ER, at the new time of 12:45-13:45.
Participants contribute towards the cost of hall hire.
Note: there is a waiting list for this activity; please contact the Group Leader by pressing on the link on the r/h side, if you like more information.
Friday sessions (11:00 to 12:00) to continue over Zoom.
Sessions held over Zoom are not open to new members.
The Pilates classes are led by Verne Crawford.
How to get there to St Michael's Hall:
- Overground train to London Fields St. (from Stamford Hill, Stoke Newington, Hackney Downs)
- Bus 394 stops close by in Lansdowne Drive
- Buses 106 and 254 St Thomas Sq. stop and then cross London Fields
- Bus 236 Richmond Rd stop
Pilates includes standing, sitting and lying postures. So members need to bring a yoga mat (or if unsure whether this is the class for you, a blanket) and also a yoga block (or a book about 1" thick). A belt or scarf will come in handy too.
If you have health problems and are worried as to whether you should do this kind of exercise, it would be best to consult your doctor.
Before the pandemic, we were able to use the following venue free of charge; we hope to be able to return to the libraries at some point in the future and are in discussion with Hackney Council:
Venue: Stamford Hill Library
Pilates Mondays 13:30 - 14:30
These were the pre-Pandemic times for every Monday (except Bank Holidays - library closed).
