Pickleball is a cross between Badminton, Tennis and Table Tennis. It is said to be the fastest-growing sport in the United State and is now booming in the u3a too.
It is easier than Tennis, as it is played on a Badminton-sized court and the net is 2” lower than in Tennis. The ball, called a wiffle, is made out of plastic with holes in it. Racquets, known as paddles are similar to Table Tennis but larger. Winning is based on strategy rather than speed or strength.
Sessions take place on Fridays, 3.00-5.00pm at Dunmow Leisure Centre CM6 2AT. The cost is £13/month, payable on the first session of each month. Cash only please.
Comfy clothing and indoor court trainers are recommended, once that you know that the game is for you.
