This outing allows you to create your own itinerary. For example:

The National Gallery which is free to visit or you could take in the Courtauld Impressionists: From Manet to Cézanne for just £7.50. There is also the Mantegna and Bellini exhibition which costs £14 (or £12 if you pre-book on line).

The National Portrait Gallery is also free of charge unless you want to see the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize which is £3.50 for concessions. Or alternatively go to see the Gainsborough’s family album exhibition for £12.50.

Also in the area around Trafalgar Square: Stroll up to Leicester Square and along to Piccadilly. Visit Fortnum and Mason’s for a pack of the Queen’s blend of tea then through the Burlington Arcade and on to Regent Street.

Alternatively, walk down to the Thames and cross the Golden Jubilee bridges to Southbank for restaurants, the ‘Eye’ and London Aquarium.

March 2019
Mon Mar 4thOutingsMonday 4th March: A Day Out At The Museums Of South Kensington.

How long has it been since you last visited the museums at South Kensington?

In my teens, I used to go with my friends every few months, particularly to the Science and Natural History museums. Then again with my own children and now grandchildren want to visit them. But sometimes the years go by and suddenly you realise that it has been ages since walking through the V & A and what about the Geological museum – has it changed?

If, like me, you think it might be time to reacquaint yourself with one or more of the wonderful museums in South Ken., then this is the day out for you and for just £17 per person.

We will leave Dunmow at 9.00 am to arrive around 11.00 am, which will give us four and a half hours to explore, before catching the coach at 3.30 pm for the journey home. We hope to arrive back at around 5.30 pm – traffic permitting.

(Pick ups as usual at Don’s (9.00 am) Flitch House (9.05 am) and Takeley (9.20).
