Wednesday, 8th April at 10am – Walk to Chelwood Vachery in Ashdown Forest (4 miles)
A walk that starts with great views over open heath to the South Downs, then descends through woodland into the valley of the Millbrook stream to the Chelwood Vachery Forest Garden and Braberry ponds. If it has been raining heavily, the ground may be muddy in places. There are no stiles and only one unusual footbridge with a relatively easy step-over at either end. Lunch afterwards in the Llama Park café or the Wych Cross Garden Centre nearby.
Meet at the Long car park (TQ428310) on the A22 south of Wych Cross. Going south from the junction with the A275, it is the first car park on the right about ½ mile down the A22. If you miss the first entrance, there is another about 100 yards or so further down the road.

Walks are usually about 4-5 miles – starting at 10 am and finishing by about 12.30pm, but they do vary. You can check the details with the walk leader, if you need any advice.
Please bring U3A cards, if possible, as we are required to check you are members each year. You can bring guests, for a couple of events, but the U3A insurance only covers members for any accidents. (We haven't had any yet !)
We usually have a break soon after 11am, so bring a drink with you. Some members go off for a pub lunch or coffee together after the walk. This is entirely optional.
