Walks (4-5 miles)
We were planning to do a walk from Ditchling this month, but we did a recce, and the mud was awful for the first mile. So I decided to go up on the Downs instead, and hope for nice weather to see the lovely views.
Then I received an email from HHD U3A walking group, and they've had the same problem this week - the leader went out to check their next walk, and found that the mud was deeper than his boots ! So they're doing the same thing and changing this month's walk from low-level Wealden mud, to the chalk on the Downs.
So here are details of our next walk:
Thursday, 25th April at 10am – A Downland Walk from Jack & Jill (4 miles)
We'll go East from the car park, via Lower Standean and the South Downs Way. There is some up and down, but not too much. There may be some muddy areas, but it's mainly chalky tracks. .
The walk may be adapted on the day, depending on weather, and how we feel. For example, we could go to the Chattri war memorial, which is worth a visit.
Meet at Jack & Jill Car Park (by the windmills), Mill Lane, off Clayton Hill [G/R TQ 303134]
Walk Leader: Chris Coates - Tel. 01444 244416 / 07971208968 Email: chris.coatesu3a@gmail.com
After that, please let me know if you have a walk to lead, or a favourite walk that you would like us to lead for you - any day you like, within reason.
Dates and details for our walks will be sent out by email and are also posted on this BH U3a website.
There is also a Strollers group, who do shorter walks on Mondays. Contact Margaret Carroll for details
