Keep-Fit Groups Donate Games and Puzzles to Local Residential Home

Oct 2017

Once again the kindly ladies who attend Biddulph U3A 'Keep-Fit' Groups have supported their local community by donating board games, colouring books and pens, puzzles and soft toys to 'St. Michael's Residential Home, Chell.
-----
The 'Keep-Fit ladies recently searched their cupboards, garages and any other storage facilities in their homes to find any unwanted games, puzzles, colouring books and pens, and soft toys to donate to 'St. Michael's Home.' Here the Home's activity co-ordinator is busy setting up a games room to entertain and to stimulate the residents.

By providing this new facility not only can the residents join in social activities by playing the variety of games donated but also have the opportunity to enjoy, if they so desire, solo activities. The Home caters for residents with a range of needs, both physical and mental, so it is important that a wide range and games and activities are provided.

This initiative was organized by one of the 'Keep-Fit' leaders, July Swistek, who has a relative living in the home.

July commented. 'I must say a big thank you to the 'Keep-Fit' ladies on behalf of both the staff and residents of 'St. Michael's Home'. I know that these donations will very much appreciated and everything given is going to a very worthy cause!'

Ann Bailey.

A DAY FOR CELEBRATION

The ladies of the Monday’s Keep fit class couldn’t let the recent 90th birthday of one of its members, Joy Manning, go un-celebrated. So on Monday 26th. March the ladies gathered in the leisure centre cafe after the class to celebrate Joy’s birthday. Jane Caddy had made a cake for Joy and after the ‘official’ cutting of the cake everyone enjoyed a slice with tea or coffee. Everyone wished Joy a happy birthday and Joy herself said she had received so many cards she was a bit over-whelmed by all the good wishes she had received, not only from the keep fit ladies but her family and all her other friends.

-----
Joy is the oldest member of the Monday group and everyone celebrating with her on that day all agreed they hoped to still be doing keep fit when they are 90.
