Wooler

Garden

We would like to re-form the Garden group, initially with particular interest in the Grow & Tell project which is intended to enhance the Cheviot Centre rear courtyard garden, building on and reinvigorating the work already done.

We would welcome interest in this group - please contact Alison Davies for guidance.

The Grow & Tell project is described below.

We are now into the final few weeks of our Grow & Tell project so we wanted to let you know about the two remaining Volunteer Gardening Sessions to be held at the Cheviot Centre Garden.
Saturday 28th May 11am – 1pm - Ideas and discussions on “Gardening on the Cheap” and “Composting” as well as a range of practical gardening activities.
Saturday 11th June 11am – 1pm - “Build Your Own Bird Box” session – see attached Bird Box Day link - as well as some practical gardening activities.
No need to book, but it would be helpful for us to get an idea of numbers - please could you contact Alison.

Grow & Tell

. - see the links on the right for the Grow & Tell brochure and programme.

Wooler Arts has received some funding for a new project based around the lovely courtyard garden at the Cheviot Centre, and is inviting members of Wooler u3a to take part. ‘Grow & Tell’ offers a range of interesting free creative workshops including creative writing, willow weaving and ceramics which will use the garden and nature as inspiration. Other community groups taking part include the Drop-In Centre, the Allotments and the RVS Gathering. The project will also offer a series of ‘How to..’ sessions about gardening, and will gradually revamp the garden and make it a lovely space for the community to enjoy.

The project is being launched at an event on Monday 28th March afternoon at the Cheviot Centre and you are all welcome to attend and find out more. From 1-4 in the garden you can chat about the project with the project leaders and from 5:15 to 6:15 they will be outlining what is planned. Please see the information in the project brochure below.

Jodie R.Red is leading the project, so if you’d like to come to the event please RSVP to her by 24th March. I hope to see you there! (NB Although her ‘stage name’ is Jodie Russian-Red, she chose it years ago after her favourite plant Red Russian Kale – nothing to do with Russia!)

We’re also making a call-out for old garden tools donations. If you have any old or tired looking garden tools you could donate to the project, please do bring them with you to the launch event! We’ll be very grateful indeed!
