Proposed New Constitution 2021
The new Constitution allowing hybrid or on-line meetings for AGMs etc has been adopted. See the "Constitution 2022" link on the right.
There are warnings about people losing money to rogue Covid 'Scams' to which have been added Winter Payment and 'keep warm' initiatives. Please do be very careful if you get any suspect messages, contacts or telephone calls.

Greetings from all the members of Wooler U3A to our prospective new members. We do hope that you will come and join in our group activities. There are so many to choose from, we're confident that you'll find several that really appeal to you.
Our U3A was set up in 1993 and we now have over a hundred members from Glendale and beyond, with links to other groups at regional and national level. The latest version of the constitution can be viewed by clicking on the link at the right of this page.
Many of the groups meet in The Cheviot Centre. Here, in this hive of activity, you will find our notice board as well as our bi-monthly programmes. Feel free to come and sample some of our sessions before you decide which things are for you.
Working to keep fit? Try table tennis, indoor bowls, or explore this wonderful area on foot with our walking group. Enjoy cultural activities? There are art, history, literature, culture and science groups. There are several new groups including Geology, Philosophy and Wine Appreciation, and even one to support the use of iPads. And finally, to develop your creative talents there's craft group.
Whilst all groups are very sociable there's also the Cheviot Centre monthly film night to enjoy. We have a variety of excursions during the year as well as coffee mornings, an annual dinner, the occasional beetle drive or strawberry tea... whatever is suggested, supported and implemented by our members.
Our annual subscription is £13 and we pay an additional £1 to £3 per session for hire of the room and refreshments. Anyone can attend any group twice to simply try it, without joining the U3A but they must pay the group session fee. Once you have joined, you may attend as many interest groups as you wish by paying the session fee each time. If you join partway through the year, which runs from October to September, your membership fee may be apportioned.
