Woodturning

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST BE A FULLY PAID UP MEMBER OF TIPTREE u3a BEFORE YOU CAN ATTEND AN INTEREST GROUP

This group has been running now for approx. 7 years. We are a self learning group who initially looked to expand our woodturning skills through group discussion and participation.

We started out with varying skill levels, but have progressed to the point where we are now producing difficult, challenging and intricate pieces, many of which are truly to showroom and gallery standard

We look at a variety of projects and techniques, and have gained much of our ability through our monthly meetings, where we bring and discuss our problems (and usually solve them!) or look at new techniques and projects which we are currently undertaking.

Due to space limitations we regrettably are not able to take new members into the main group, but there are always opportunities to accommodate people, outside of the normal meeting days, to discuss the basics or give advice on specific problems. With enough interest, it may be possible to create a 2nd "beginners" group for people new to the craft or with little experience.

We also enjoy a bit of friendly social chat along the way. We're a bit of a "Men's Shed" bunch (but ladies are equally welcome), and nothing's too serious!!

We meet in the Organiser's workshop on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 10.00 am, usually for a couple of hours.
