Pub Grub
This is a popular and sociable group meeting for lunch once a month, usually on the fourth Friday (occasionally it's the fifth Friday, but in any case always the week following the U3A monthly meeting). We book a two-course meal (mains and dessert) at various local pubs and generally arrange a choice of several dishes. The menu is then circulated by email or phone to all our group members and we send on our pre-orders to the landlord when we've received the members' choices. The group has grown over the years and the approximate number for each lunch is now between 24 and 30. The pre-order system makes it easier to serve us all together (and I always take a list of choices in case of memory shortfall!) We're lucky to have a good number of pubs to choose from in the area and non-drivers can always be found a space in someone's car.
