As the Covid 19 restrictions are lifted we hope to return to actually Strolling. Initially we will be limited to 6 participants and we will probably repeat each of the Strolls like we did last year. Our programme is currently being planned and will be announced on PhotoNews, Senior Snappers and in Keeping in Touch.
We are also staying in touch by our Facebook group " Senior Snappers" and through our Flickr site. Photographs can be seen at www.flickr.com/photos/u3aselondon.
If you would like to join Senior Snappers to keep up with the latest News about both of our Photography Groups and to see a showcase of members topical photographs please send an email quoting your u3a membership number to Roger Mead firstname.lastname@example.org
February - Virtual Stroll Clerkenwell – Architecture, Crime and Heroism. presented by one of our members Stuart Weir to just over 30 members.
Stuart used the opportunity to look at a small area of Clerkenwell – an area heavily bombed in World War II, in a slightly different way to what we usually do on a SWAC by looking, not only into the past, but in one case what the future may hold. However, at the heart of this stroll, there are many photos that we would have taken if Covid hadn’t got in the way. Amongst the many topics he covered was the development of Smithfield Market, the history of the Old Bailey, Postman's Park and the Barbican Centre. Stuart prepared an information sheet of sixteen links to the various locations he mentioned, which you can download from the link on this page.
March Tuesday 30th March 2:30 "On your doorstep"
In this time of restricted personal activity Roger Mead presented two short "Virtual Strolls" that may well be within your local area. The first will be the Brookmill Road Conservation Area in Deptford and the second will be a Stroll around the Greenwich Peninsula including the Grade 2 Enderby House, currently being refurbished, and some of the Thames Path. Details of the links from this meeting will be in the April edition of Keeping in Touch
