As the Covid 19 restrictions are lifted we are returning to actually Strolling. At present we are limiting numbers to 12 people and hope to increase that as the regulations change.
Monday 20th September Kings Cross to Camden Lock including an optional river trip in the afternoon.
This very interesting Stroll, led by Stuart Weir, had maximum number of members, Not only did we have a pleasant walk through to Camden Lock but most of us also went on a boat trip down the canal to Little Venice. Lots of photographs were taken which can be seen on the Flickr site.
Tuesday September 28th Clerkenwell with Stuart Weir
Again a vert=y successful walk in pleasant weather. Most of the pictures have now been submitted and uploaded, although there are a few members who have yet to send their photos to Julia,.
Tuesday October 26th 2 pm Mile End with Naomi Stone
This walk is being led by one of our members Naomi Stone, so look out for her outside Mile End Station - there is only 1 exit. Mile End is on the Central Line, District Line and Hammersmith and City Lines. There are various routes to get there such as using the Overground from New Cross to Whitechapel and then changing for a couple of stops to Mile End.
There is no need to book just turn up at 2pm. Afternoons are getting shorter so try not to be late as I am sure Naomi will not hang around.
If you want to get there a bit early and lunch near the start, there are both Starbucks and Costa Coffee under the Green Flyover about 200 metres away .
From the station you will walk the Cemetery Trail which takes about 30 minutes and then walk across to the Regent Canal and stroll down to Limehouse. This will take about 2-2 1/2 hours overall. There will be an optional tea break in the Saint Katherine’s Yurt after the walk close to Limehouse DLR Station., where the walk ends. This walk has lots of interesting opportunities and maybe some autumn colour as well. There are loos at the Cemetery. Reasonable surfaces underfoot and no hills.
We normally take a short break between November and February mainly due to the short days and inclement weather. However we do occasionally run "pop up" strolls at short notice to photograph Christmas lights or Autumn colours. Keep an eye on PhotoNews or Mailchimp for details.
We are also staying in touch by our Facebook group " Senior Snappers" and through our Flickr site. Photographs can be seen at www.flickr.com/photos/u3aselondon.
If you would like to join Senior Snappers to keep up with the latest News about both of our Photography Groups and to see a showcase of members topical photographs please send an email quoting your u3a membership number to Roger Mead firstname.lastname@example.org
