GOSPORT u3a QUIZ GROUP 2024
The group is meant to be light hearted and not to take itself too seriously.
The quizmasters’ word is final. Disputes are not allowed. Members must treat each other politely. Raised voices & arguments will not be tolerated.

There is a £1 charge per meeting. Members must buy their refreshments from the bar. Coffee, tea, soft & alcoholic drinks & crisps are available. Members are not to bring their own refreshments.

We play in teams with members picked from ‘a hat’ on the night so that folk are not always in the same team. There is an annual prize for the member with most points. To this end points will be awarded at each meeting as follows:
Winners = 5, second place = 4, third place = 3, fourth place = 2, quizmaster = 5, everyone else = 1. All members of the team will get the same points but as individuals.

All group members are expected to take their turn at compiling quizzes & being quizmaster. Members can pair up for this if they prefer. A list of dates & compilers will be drawn up for the year ahead. Members can swap slots if necessary. If, as quizmaster, you are unable to attend please let the group leaders know ASAP.
All quizzes will have 50 questions & can be in any format or combination ie. Printed, read out, PowerPoint (the u3a projector & screen would be required as there is no blank wall), audio (music, spoken word, noises) pictures, objects, whatever.
We currently have a maximum of six teams so quizmasters are asked to please print twelve to eighteen copies of each round. Quizmasters will receive £5 towards printing costs.
If they wish the quizmaster may have an additional table top round. Teams can complete these throughout the evening & their mark will be added to their final score.
Quizzes may be themed, grouped by subject, all general knowledge, use Jokers or not – it is entirely up to the quizmaster.

We take a short break approximately half way through the quiz.

Members to be available to form teams to represent Gosport u3a in local/regional quizzes.
u3a Gosport Quiz Group hosted the annual Hampshire South Central Network (SCN) Quiz in 2019.
