This course is aimed at beginners and will enable learners to understand how to analyse and solve cryptic crossword clues. It will take place weekly for 6 weeks. Topics will include: building blocks of clues, types of wordplay, eg anagrams, hidden words, homophones, sandwiches and reversals, common abbreviations used in cryptic clues, the role of punctuation in clues and how some cryptic crossword setters seek to challenge us with their clues.
You will need to purchase a workbook to participate in this course (currently £12, but this could increase). There will also be some additional fees to cover photocopying costs.
Day and Time: Wednesday, weekly for 6 weeks 10.30 am - 12.30 pm
