Italian Renaissance Artists Y1
Great Artists of the Italian Renaissance - Year 1**
Year 1 of a 2-year course, with outstanding DVDs of insight by the lecturer we admired in a previous series, William Kloss. The Italian Renaissance was a period in Italian history covering the 15th and 16th centuries. The period is known for the development of a culture that spread across Europe and marked the transition from the Middle Ages to modernity. It covers painting, architecture, sculpture, literature, music, philosophy, science, technology and exploration. Characteristics include a positive willingness to learn and explore; faith in the nobility of man - humanism; the discovery and mastery of linear perspective; the rebirth of naturalism and a growing secularisation.
