Robin showed his love of New Orleans Jazz at the May meeting with music by Fats Waller, Acker Bilk, Louis Armstrong, Woody Herman, Tommy Dorsey, Humphrey Lyttleton, George Melly, Ken Colyer and three bands on the circuit today - Millennium Eagle, Dart Valley Stompers and New Orleans Heat.
In June, Anne reflected on the history of the piano in Jazz, starting with Jelly Roll Morton in the 1920s, through “greats” including Art Tatum, Fats Waller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington and finishing with Andre Previn in the 1980s, with relevant stories about each. Special note was taken of the influence of Art Tatum.
