The group is very grateful to Sonia who stepped down as leader at the end of 2019 after five happy years. We now have two joint leaders: Trish and Claude.
Before Christmas we read The Shepherd’s Hut by Tim Winton. The colourful language surprised us all but was appropriate to the character, a young Aussie who, afraid of being accused of having killed his father, sets off into the Australian wilderness where he encounters a mysterious character living in a hut. A good read.
In January Spectacles by Sue Perkins had a mixed reception. Only one reader thoroughly enjoyed it but everyone had plenty to say.
In future our monthly literary quiz will be shorter, with time for a more structured discussion of the book. We have room for one person to join the group, which meets near Christ Church or close to Bishopstrow House Hotel.
