Wine Appreciation Three (WAGS 3)
We had three busy months around the Festive Season.
In November Kate and Mike presented 6 great wines from their recent visit to France. The Premium Saumur “Mademoiselle Ladubay” and a Crozes Hermitage 2018 were exceptional.
Our Christmas party was held at Marjory and Ian’s house and as usual we had a great night with much wine, food and hilarity.
In January a Sloe Gin Challenge was part of our meeting. The main participants were Jan and Murray who went first with a very dry Sloe Gin and followed this with a 10 year old sweeter, full-bodied gin. After a few wines, Mike and Kate presented a sweet young sloe gin and then a drink Mike called “Sloe Rum”. This latter distillation had 2 Caribbean Rums along with Black Cow pure milk vodka in it. The “likes” were varied so we had a vote. 3 offerings got 4 votes and Kate and Mike’s Sloe Rum got 5. A close run thing.
Mind you there were 14 at the meeting and 17 votes were cast. Explain that one! All I can say is that we had a great night, thanks to all the participants.
