Wine Appreciation Three (WAGS 3)
Wine Appreciation III
How time flies! We have now been to the Joint Summer BBQ and the visit to the Somerset Levels. Both events were extremely well organised by our sister WAGS groups and thoroughly enjoyed. These give us the opportunity to socialise with friends from the other WAGS groups.
In May, Maureen and Ann presented a lovely selection of red and white wines from around the World which were enjoyed by all. They also held a quiz and this certainly got the grey cells working!! June was the turn of Marjory and Ian. The focus was mainly on French wines from the Languedoc Roussillon and Provence regions. The wines, accompanied by some dishes that Marjory prepared, were well received. Anne Shoult and Bill gave the July presentation. There were two particularly good and full bodied French reds – a Bordeaux Chateau Malvina and a Cotes du Rhone, both reasonably priced and bought from Morrisons. It goes to show that you don’t need to spend a fortune on wine. The group continues to thrive and we are all continuing to enjoy ourselves. Ian R. McAllister
