Bridge (Improvers)

Bridge Improvers

Our Bridge sessions take place on the third Wednesday afternoon from 2-5:0pm each month.

Low key, non-competitive bridge sessions to enable practice and for enjoyment whilst picking up tips from one another to improve play.
Here’s some basic requirements of the group. BUT contrary to official bridge rules, allow some conversation (not spending too much time!) and where a less experienced player requests advice, allow it to be given after hand is finished.

British Standard ACOL
A player must have at least one year's experience, be able to take your turn smoothly, with a little thinking time allowed!
You may have recently learned through a U3A beginners' or formal course, or have played socially for some time.
You must be able to: open in a suit or No Trumps; respond; rebid (not always getting it right!)
Know what it means by overcall, double, pre-empt or be ready to learn these.

Janet has two Bridge tables and so we can take a maximum of 8 players at any one time, if more, one player can sit out and if less, we can play with a rotating dummy.
