Gardening
Gardening Group.
At the first meeting of the year Members got together to discuss the future direction of the group. It was decided that we should meet every month on the third Wednesday, with possible additional meetings to listen to a speaker or to visit a venue. Several places of interest were suggested to visit and two were chosen to take place, in March and (if arrangements can be made) for the April meetings. Other subjects the group considered worthwhile were a Members Forum to discuss general gardening difficulties such as disease, insect treatment and cures etc. also the inclusion of short workshops at some meetings to pass on advice, knowledge and experience to each other.
What have we done so far!
A short workshop on Lawn Maintenance and Training Climbers
Trip to Mottisfont to view the spring flowers.
discussed the benefits of 'Garden Soil Testing' several members brought along a sample from their garden to test.
There was an analysis of the test results and discussion about the most appropriate plants to suit the types of soil recorded. We also discussed how to control the soil composition to maintain healthy plants. and then discussed an article on the 'Dandelion' an ever present threat.
Trip to Hilliers Trade Nursery (possibly with guided tour)
