Welcome to this group of art enthusiasts. We love looking at works of art (paintings, sculptures, architecture, installations, photography etc) and learning about them but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
None of us is an expert on Art, we simply enjoy learning about artists through the ages. We currently have 32 members. Some members volunteer to lead a session with a talk or slide presentation with links to experts on You tube. We meet fortnightly in Hexham Abbey which has the technology we need to show works of art.
Each year, some members volunteer to devise a programme for the following year. In the past we have had programmes looking at Landscape, Women in Art, British Artists of the 20 th Century, Scandinavian Art, Russian Art, however, from September 2023 we are following a programme of 20 free standing sessions looking at what individual members would like to learn about. We have built in “Desert Island” sessions too, so that those who
wish to showcase a favourite work of art can do so.
