Good Read 2
The group meets in members houses on the second Wednesday of each month at 2.00pm. The host chooses the book for that month. Each meeting starts with tea/coffee with biscuits to get us in the right frame of mind, and then the book discussion takes place. This takes the form of a short review of the book, usually by the convenor, or anyone who feels confident to do so, followed by an open discussion. The choice of the next book is decided by the next hostess, thus ensuring that we have a wide variety of texts to read. We buy or borrow from friends or libraries. books chosen range from 'A Prodigal Summer' by American author Barbara Kingsolver to Dickens' 'Great Expectations'.
We have a summer outing, usually connected in some way with one of the books we have discussed, and we also have a Christmas lunch and a showing of a DVD of one of the books. Contact Susan Burnett, Convenor.
