Art History
The first three months of 2019 will be devoted to a short introduction to American art. The course will introduce some of the most important artists in the 19th century, such as Thomas Cole and Winslow Homer, as well as give a brief overview of the challenges facing artists as they sought to develop an “American School” of painting. We have also arranged two gallery visits to see exhibitions at the National Gallery and Tate Britain. We will not start a new course until July.
Please note that there is no meeting scheduled in May.
