summary of the 24/8/16 lunch club meet.
Four out of six diner turned up for the lunch.
Four chatty diners met for lunch at the Anissa's Thai restaurant in Lyndhurst. The chicken & prawn dumplings were an experience not to be repeated, but the mains were tasty and large enough to fill everyone up and deemed value for money.(£7.95 for two courses). The waitress who did not look at all Thai to me, had a problem removing us as the conversation was in full flow.

Summary of the 20/9/16 Lunch club meet
Six of us hungry souls meet at the Seashell's restaurant in Hythe. The food was excellent and not too badly priced. The decor was rather pleasant with views overlooking the Solent with sail boats and container ships passing.

Summary of the 19/10/16 Lunch club meet
Seven of us turned up at the white Horse, a nice mix of eclectic furniture, in a traditional old style pub, the food was good especially the spotted dick and custard, apparently the omelette that was ordered was a bit rubbery, owing to the fact that it was made in an omelette maker and not by hand, and the spicy soup was very spicy. Someone commented that it was the first time that they had seen corn beef hash on a menu and was duly tried, no other comments were forth coming.

Summary of the 15/11/16, Lunch Club meet.
Eight of us meet at the Empress of Blandings Copythorn. A large pub well furnished in an eclectic sort of way.
Good food well cooked, and reasonably priced, service was polite friendly and speedy, All of us enjoyed a good chat and agreed the next Lunch would be held on the the 17/01/2017.

Summary of the 17/1/17, Lunch Club meet.
The Filly Inn, was the venue for the Lunch Club meet, I was unable to to make it so had to rely upon Juliet, for this summary, six diners turned up to eat in a pleasant environment, with good food, and service, and a reasonably priced menu, apparently all would be happy to eat there again, (i'm sorry I mist out on this Luncheon but skiing took pride of place).

Summary of the 14/2/17 Lunch Club meet.
The Hare and Hounds, was traditionally decorated with a mixture of furniture and some of the bar stools were made up of old horse shoes welded together and very heavy, approximatly 300 years ago the pub was a mortuary. Four of us turned up and we had wonderfull meal and a pleasant chat, the food was exulant, service was very good and friendly, all in all it was a very good choice of venue.

Summary of the 14/3/17 Lunch Club meet.
The Red Lion,Boldre, was the meeting place for the Lunch Club.
10 Hungry diners met for Lunch at the Red lion,It was nice to see such a jolly crew with the chat & banter making the day. The place was full of nooks and crannies with plenty of Bits and pieces of old & interesting objects around the pub, also the flag stone & carpet floors made it an interesting place to eat. The food and the service was very good, the prices were, good too, and the portions were good and adequate. the deserts were something to die for, or mine was at lest.
Well worth the visit.

THE ORIGINAL MEETINGS OF THE OLD LUNCH CLUB ARE SHOWN BELOW:-

The Lunch Club was formed on 11 March 2015.

Well the new Porterhouse Restaurant at Brockenhurst was quite an experience - some of the mains arrived nearly 2 hours after we got there! One poor girl was running the whole restaurant. Lovely food though and such good value - needless to say there was plenty of time to chat!

Tuesday 14 July we went to the Sir John Barleycorn at Cadnam. We numbered about 20. The staff were excellent and really looked after us well and the choices were generous and very good value. Some of the diners said the fruit salad was the best they had had anywhere!

Tuesday 18 August, after deciding to arrange a last minute get together, the small select crew tried the set menu at The Boat House on Hythe Marina. It was really good value, nicely presented, attentive staff and, of course, a very pleasant outlook.

Tuesday 15 September. Our original venue, The Drift Inn, really let us down with changed menus the day I rang to give them all our menu choices, so following a very rapid ring round we re-convened at The Waterloo Arms - declared a great success thankfully.

Tuesday 21 October: You could say a "mixed" experience. You probably need to sack me as I may have had a senior moment with the pre-ordered choices. Anyway, notwithstanding the ambience, the food was good and large amounts of lovely veggies.

Tuesday 17 November: Decided to book the Mailmans Arms, Lyndhurst High Street. Two courses for £14 and no pre-ordering - whoopee! Usual large choice of typical pub grub. I gather the decor has been updated too.

Tuesday 15 December: As expected La Pergola was an excellent choice. We decided to go for the usual lunch menu but most of us couldn't resist the delicious desserts that are paraded throughout the restaurant to tempt the diners. The quizzes were again a great success, introducing a bit of competition into the proceedings.

Tuesday 19 January: Le Chanteclerc at Cadnam. Small "select" group, but lovely food and company as always. My picture quiz proved rather a challenge, so was aborted. We just settled down for some good old chat instead!

Tuesday 16 February: The Happy Cheese, Ashurst. Inexpensive pub grub with a comprehensive menu and some interesting sharing menus. No need to pre-order, so any last minute diners hopefully welcomed by the pub.

Stella, the Coordinator, left our U3A after this.
