Play Reading
This is a group that requires a great deal of organisation from the Group Leader and a level of commitment from members but is a lot of fun.
Plays have to be ordered two months in advance so that there is time for them to be delivered to, and collected from, Hadleigh Library. This gives the leader a chance to read the play, allocate parts and pass scripts on so members have a month to familiarise themselves with it. But they don’t need to learn any lines.
This isn’t a group to just turn up to on a whim as there are no understudies! At the meeting members read the play with dramatic interpretation rather like a radio play.
Because the group has to be a member of the Performing Arts section of the library there is a small charge of £2.00 for the hire of the play and another small annual charge for membership. The group meets in a member’s home.
Past plays have included Black Coffee, Brassed off and A Convenient Murder. A good time was had by all!
