What we do:
The Group’s principal aim is to enhance each member’s enjoyment of classical and contemporary cinema by sharing it with others.
We endeavour to see at least one film each month, usually one that has been recently released to cinemas. For those members who find it difficult to visit a cinema, we also include TV films watched at home.
Consideration of the films seen then forms the basis of discussion-based monthly meetings. The Members then rate the films on a scale of one to five.
We aim to have around 15 in our Group; currently there are SEVERAL VACANCIES FOR NEW MEMBERS.
At the end of each year, in a more social setting, we nominate our OSCAR or BAFTA awards in our own ‘U3AFTAs’.
The Group does not have a recognised teacher. There are no ‘experts’ but, through a relaxed group cohesion, individual members demonstrate particular insights and knowledge.
Learning is fun! Such is the standard monthly meeting but, in addition, we plan to have the occasional visiting speaker to the group.
