What we do:
Covid-19 U3A Regulations
Currently (25 Aug2020) groups meeting outdoors should be limited to 6, which can be from different households. Therefore we will have to split into groups of 6 or less at the starting point, when we know who has turned up.
Car sharing with members of different households is not permitted, so we will each drive to the start of the walk, which will normally be at 10.30.
We must continue to follow social distancing guidelines.
Bring hand sanitiser. Wash hands thoroughly as soon as we get home. Do not share refreshments (unless with someone from same household). Do not participate if experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms.
Group leader needs to have a record of who has attended, which must be kept for 21 days
Distances
Our walks average around 6 miles, but may be up to 7. In winter we try and keep within about 30 minutes driving time from Carlisle
Walks are planned and led by group members. Details of each walk will be in the program sent out by email to each member, and are also published on the website. The programme may change according to factors such as the weather.
Cancellation of Walks
Bad weather may lead to cancellation of walks. This will be by email so please check before setting out, if the weather looks doubtful.
Disclaimer
Walks organised by U3A groups have public liability insurance cover, provided the walkers are U3A members. This is not personal accident insurance and participants are responsible for their own personal safety. We do not offer a “duty of care”, and group members walk at their own risk.
What to bring
Walkers should ensure that they have proper clothing and equipment, and that their level of fitness is adequate for the proposed walk. There will be a break for lunch, and other stops for drinks, points of interest, or simply to admire the view!
