Walking Football
The Walking Football session takes place indoors at the Meadowside Leisure Centre. Starting on the 1st February it will be every Thursday between 1.00 and 2.00 p.m.
As the name may suggest, the aim of this fast-growing sport is to allow people in later life to enjoy playing football but without the inherent risks of a contact sport.
Contrary to what one may imagine, the sport can provide surprisingly strenuous physical exercise. No running means trying to imitate the curious action of the Olympic fast walker!
Walking Football played properly is a non-contact sport played in a friendly spirit. It is fun with a chance to applaud other people's abilities and enjoy discovering or rediscovering your own.
Each session includes a gentle warm-up and some simple drills before moving on to playing a game.
If you fancy playing the beautiful game contact the group coordinator, Chris, by clicking on the blue bird at the right hand side of the page.
Thank you.
