Whether you are new to Burton-on-Trent U3A or a member, welcome to our website. We aim to give you an easy source of information about our activities.
The University of the Third Age is a national movement for people no longer in full-time employment who would like to lead an interesting, active and fun life after retirement.
Membership is open to anyone who has passed the 1st age of childhood and the 2nd age of full time employment and parental responsibility. No qualifications are needed and none are given.
U3As are operationally independent and pursue an amazing range of topics - some academic, others recreational – achieved by members sharing their knowledge, skills and experience. It is a learning self-help group of people which enables members to share many educational, creative and leisure activities.
Burton-on-Trent U3A was launched in April 2011 and now has over 700 members and more than 40 interest groups. New members are very welcome.
Groups meet at a variety of venues in the town and surrounding villages, sometimes in members' homes. There is no limit to the number of groups members can join.
We hold two Tea and Talk General Meetings each year. These usually feature a visiting guest speaker, covering a wide range of topics. There are also two General Meeting Quizzes as well as the A.G.M. and the Christmas Party.
Coffee Mornings are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at The Dial in Station Street, between 10.15 and 11.45. Meet your friends there or come and make new ones. It is also a good opportunity to check the noticeboard to see what's happening in Burton U3A!
Our membership year runs from 1st April. Current annual membership fees are £10, with a reduction if joining after 30th September.
