This is a group of Silhill U3A members who wish to pursue their interest in all Art forms - paintings, photographs, textiles, sculpture, architecture, theatre, music, as well as exploring different world cultures. There is a varied programme of events and visits to places of interest. A vibrant discussion group takes place every second Friday of the month, usually at the British Legion Club in central Solihull with free parking on site. No specialised knowledge is required in order to attend and the meetings are informal, informative and friendly. Details of this month’s event can be found on this web link. . Arts and Culture Appreciation: Living Artfully
On Friday, 12th January,2024, the Arts and Culture Group find out about ‘The Beautiful Colours Of India’, through images and talk by local photographer, Joyce Rothschild. We will learn more about the life, traditions and culture of this vibrant country. Come along and join us at 11am at the British Legion Club, Union Road. Plenty of parking and bus stops nearby.
On Friday, 9th February, 2024, the Arts and Culture group explore The Knights and Dames Of The Realm. Group members select a Sir or a Dame that have made a significant contribution to any aspect of Arts and Culture in the UK. Share your learning with others. Meet at the British Legion Club, Union Road for coffee and discussion at 11am. New members to the group always welcome.
On Friday, 8th March, 2024, the Arts and Culture Group celebrate International Women’s Day through exploring the contribution that some remarkable women have made to the world of music - musicians, singers, writers and composers. Meet at the British Legion Club, Union Road, Solihull for coffee and discussion at 11am. You are welcome to join us.
On Friday, 12th April, group members are invited to share their Desert Island Treasures. If you found yourself on a Desert Island and you could have 3 items - which film, music/album, and Artwork would you choose? Meet at the British Legion Club, Union Road for coffee and discussion at 11am. Any Silhill U3A member is welcome to join us.
