Poetry Appreciation: Jane Kerley
Poetry goes digital!
In view of the current situation, we will not be meeting as usual at my house. Instead, it would be nice if on the date that we should be meeting, members could circulate an attached poem for us all to read and comment upon. We cannot get through all of this without Poetry!! Keep well, everyone!
Sometimes by Sheenagh Pugh
Sometimes things don't go, after all,
from bad to worse. Some years, muscadel
faces down frost, green thrives; the crops don't fail;
sometimes a man aims high, and all goes well.
A people sometimes will step back from war;
elect an honest man; decide they care
enough, that they can't leave some stranger poor.
Some men become what they were born for.
Sometimes our best efforts do not go
amiss; sometimes we do as we meant to.
The sun will sometimes melt a field of sorrow
that seemed hard frozen; may it happen for you.
Dates for sending in poems:
Thursday 18 June
Thursday 16 July
More dates to follow as we go along.
Meeting themes have this year been based on the month/season.
Meetings are usually held in Blossomfield Road on the third Thursday of the month at 1000. When the current situation is over, we will hope to resume normal service! Watch this space!
